Cascade Karate Club

Nihon Karate Jutsu

The Cascade Karate Club offers a demanding training environment, exceptional standards, and the practice of serious martial art.

Our practice is governed by the principal of “less is more” and the Japanese concept of “Riai”; which translates to “the unification of theory and practice”. We believe it is imperative that the training of form and function must be inseparable and that the key to developing real ability lies in mastery of a limited number of skills that can be applied against an infinite number of threats.

Our curriculum is structured so that students obtain a deep instinctive and intuitive level of practical ability. Coupled with a demanding training discipline, the result is that our students develop formidable self-defense skill, an exceptional level of fitness, an increased ability to focus the mind, and an indomitable sense of spirit.

The karate we teach is predicated upon (but not limited to) the precepts of Shito-Ryu Karate. Known for its combination of evasive movement and power, Shito-Ryu is considered one of the most versatile systems of Japanese karate. Because of its emphasis on strategy and technique that can be employed by anyone regardless of size, we find it well suited to provide the technical foundation of our practice.

Based upon the principals of “less is more” and “Riai”, the curriculum of the Cascade Karate Club is a unique refinement of the Shito-Ryu syllabus into an integrated system of training that emphasizes and embeds into the student the key fundamental concepts and principals that make karate effective as an art of self-defense.

Because the physical emphasis of our training is karate as an art of self-defense, we distinguish our practice as Nihon Karate Jutsu (Japanese Empty Hand Art).

Women's Self Defense

In addition to our karate program, the Cascade Karate Club also offers specialized self-defense instruction for women based upon karate that is tailored to specifically address the unique self-defense needs of women.
